2012 CAP Angel Program

The CAP Angel Program was successful in having all of our students adopted for the holiday season.  However, we could not have done this without the help of so many wonderful "Angels" throughout our community.  An entire week was spent taking in, wrapping, and sorting the gifts. At the end of the week, we loaded up the bus and Mr. Roy drove to each home throughout Gallatin. At many destinations there were excited and eager children awaiting our arrival, complete with huge grins across their faces.  Thank you again to all the volunteers who helped put this into action and thank you to all the wonderful families, businesses, and organizations who so graciously gave to our Christmas Angel Program.  It is amazing what we can accomplish in this world when so many are willing to step up to help.

Learning How to Hug a Porcupine

Our K/1 Class had a fun project yesterday with Ms. Dee, our Reading Specialist.  First, Ms. Dee read the book How Do You Hug a Porcupine?.  Next, the children were able to make their very own porcupines and they were VERY creative!  We even had porcupines with mohawks!  The kids laughed, painted, made jokes, and just had some "porcupine fun".  It was a great day in K/1 with our great Reading Specialist, Ms. Dee!  Thank you, Ms. Dee for everything you do for the children at CAP.  By the way, do you know how to hug a porcupine?  VERY CAREFULLY! :)

Guess Who Came to Visit Us!?

That's right!! The one and only.....SNOWBIRD!  This was an absolute treat for our CAP kids.  Snowbird came to visit, read a story about penguins, and take pictures with all our students in K-3.  They absolutely loved it!! A big THANK YOU to Snowbird for making our day a little more special!

Former CAP Student Aspires to be a Doctor

Vernicia Winford, a former CAP student, is currently studying Pre-Med at Xavier University in New Orleans.  During her winter break, Vernicia did not spend her days relaxing like most college students.  Instead, thanks to Mr. Bailey, arrangements were made for her to shadow Dr. Dickerson, a local cardiologist.  This was a wonderful experience for Vernicia and only reaffirmed her aspirations to go into the medical field.  Way to go, Vernicia!! We are so proud of you!!
